Tool making in the forest

One person´s rubbish is our tool in Forest School. All we need is our creativity, some knot tying skills and a little help from nature.

In Forest School we aim to be creative and resourceful. These are two of the more important skills we will need for our future in the world of work. Out here in the forest we have limited resources. However it is when we are challenged to overcome limitations that our resourcefulness is developed and our creativity shines.

This is a shovel some of our forest schoolers made. All they had were some natural resources from the forest, some rope, a piece of rubbish carelessly discarded and the knowledge that they can make something more than just the sum of there parts. This is a perfect example of how our creativity is peaked when we are challenged. The resulting tool shows how imagination and effort leads to success and pride of our work.
